Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathies

Heart Diseases Managed

Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction

Patients with heart failure with reduced EF (heart function LVEF <50%). They require intensive medical therapy and will be evaluated for prevention of sudden death

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction

Patients with heart failure with preserved EF have normal but dysfunctional ventricles that results in congestion and heart failure symptoms. More common in elderly patients especially females

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Disorder of the heart where there is hypertrophy of the heart muscle that can eventually lead to heart failure or sudden death

Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy

Disorder of the heart usually aggravated by strenuous physical activity and eventually leading to ventricular arrhythmias

Dilated cardiomyopathy

Disorder of the heart muscle leading to heart failure

Infiltrative cardiomyopathies

Infiltrative disorders of the heart such as sarcoidosis and amyloidosis
