Dr Paul Lim is a cardiologist and electrophysiologist practicing at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Parkway East Hospitals.
He specialises in managing a broad spectrum of cardiac disorders and his area of expertise is in managing complex heart rhythm disorders with catheter ablation using advanced mapping techniques and implantation of cardiac implantable electronic devices such as pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices.
Dr Paul Lim graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the National University of Singapore in 2004 and subsequently obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) together with his Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) from the National University of Singapore in 2009. He was accorded Certificate Board Accreditation in Cardiology in 2014.
He completed his fellowship under the Health Manpower Development Plan award at the Barts Heart Centre NHS Trust London United Kingdom in 2017 where he underwent advanced training to manage complex cardiac electrophysiology ablations and state of the art device implants/extractions. He attained European Heart Rhythm Association Certified Electrophysiology Specialist and Certified Cardiac Device Specialist accreditation in 2019.
Prior to private practice, Dr Paul Lim was a senior consultant at the National Heart Centre Singapore and a visiting consultant at the Seng Kang Hospital Singapore. Committed to clinical excellence and service, he garnered multiple Singhealth Service Quality Awards over the course of clinical practice. He has been integral to initiatives ensuring patient safety such as initiation of protocols for safe cardiac implantable device management in patients undergoing radiotherapy, the drive towards medical informatics to promote comprehensive clinical documentation and was a core member in various quality improvement committees.
A dedicated teacher, he was a clinical assistant professor at the Duke-NUS medical school, holding the positions of director of the SingHealth Duke-NUS cardiovascular sciences residency academic clinical programme, and was a core faculty member of Singhealth Duke-NUS cardiology senior residency program and Singhealth internal medicine residency programme. He has been recognised for his mentorship with multiple outstanding Singhealth Residency faculty awards. He continues to serve as an adjunct assistant professor at the Duke-NUS medical school. He has been invited to speak at local, regional and international conferences and has published in various peer reviewed journals. He continues to serve as a visiting consultant at the National Heart Centre Singapore and the Seng Kang Hospital.
